Site-Specific Public Art -Relief Tile Mural
Short Course: Making Site-Specific Public Art
Second year students
This site-specific public artwork project fostered problem-based learning. A group of second year art students were given a local site and asked to respond to the site taking inspiration from the Yeats family and their link to Co. Sligo. Particular emphasis was put on W.B Yeats and Jack B. Yeats art forms. Students mainly focused on Jack B. Yeats painting 'For the Road' and William B. Yeats poem 'The Second Coming'. The public artwork which consists of a series of clay tiles forms a relief tile mural. The project took place over a duration of nine weeks and was in conjunction with an action-research project.
